This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.
CBC is involved in 3 community events this April to celebrate this day and raise awareness. We want you to join us! See below for details.
AHA! Night Earth Day Eve People Powered Procession, Thursday, April 9
For the 3rd year, CBC will be marching in the AHA! Earth Day Eve procession, spreading the message of sustainability. Anyone is welcome to march with us! The parade will begin around 5:30pm. We will also have an educational tour of the trash skimmer in the water at Pier 3.
OCS and CBC team up to clean Palmers Island, Saturday, April 18
CBC has teamed up with Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) and we are sponsoring the first clean-up of 2020 at Palmers Island. Palmers Island is covered with litter and other debris such as large wooden beams and other lumber that has washed ashore. The city will pick up the bagged trash and we will be bringing the wood back to CBC. We want to get this lumber into the hands of artisans and artists instead of sending it to the landfill. If you are interested in helping with the recovery or to take any of the lumber, please email Taber@communityboating. The more people there are, the bigger the impact we can all have.
2020 Steps to Protect Our Planet: Marching for Climate Action Now, Wednesday, April 22
Come down to Pier 3 for Earth Day entertainment. There will be a speaking portion, food, and other vendors and lots of informational tables. A number of community groups are coming together for a large event. Festivities will begin at 3:30pm followed with a march downtown at 5:30pm, wrapping up back at Pier 3 with more entertainmemt. Come show your support on Earth Day with us.
